The History Of The International Ice Hockey Federation

The International Ice Hockey Federation is a federation in reference to international ice hockey and inline hockey for men and women. It was founded on May 15th, 1908 in Paris, France so it recently celebrated its 100th year anniversary. The federation controls the rulebook, the transfer of international players, and official hockey guidelines. It takes over ice hockey when it is played in the Winter Olympics. It is also over the World Championships of all levels. These levels include men, women, juniors under-20, juniors under-18 and women under-18 divisions. They usually do about 25 world championships in five different categories. There are some European competitions that it governs over.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. These competitions include the Champions Hockey League, the Continental Cup, the European Women’s Champions Cup and the European Champions Cup. The Champions Hockey League is a replaced of the IIHF European Champions Cup. It gives out the biggest award to its winners. The Continental Cup is an ice hockey tournament that consist of 48 teams. The tournament has several rounds to qualify each team. The European Women’s Champion Cup is a championship game of ice hockey that is played by women. The European Champions Cup is the biggest championship game. The winner is considered to be the ice hockey champion of Europe.
